Employees get the skills to train on the job
The Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE has partnered with Manufacturing Skills Queensland to upskill existing workers in manufacturing and engineering industries.
In just three months of part-time study, the group of twenty existing workers will obtain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification.
TAFE Business Development Officer Mandy Elliott said the training will provide the existing workers with additional skills and a formal qualification to facilitate training to other employees in their workplace.
TAFE is currently delivering the training in a part-time flexible format to reduce time away from their workplace.
A commitment of one week of study per month is the only requirement.
"The existing workers are able to access this priority training through the Productivity Places Program with the majority of the fees for the training supported by the Commonwealth and State Governments.
"All participants are expected to graduate the program in December and obtain the necessary qualification to deliver training on-site to their staff.
"“This program and associated funding is aimed to tackle skills shortages in the North Queensland region and increase the productivity of manufacturing and engineering industries," Ms Elliott said.
