2008 F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton inspects one of the car designs
Queensland dominates world championships
Re-Engineering Australia Foundation’s "Team Australia" was the dominant force at this years F1inSchools Technology Challenge World Championships in London walking away with almost all of the prizes.
One of the best three schools in the nation which made up Team Australia was AC Racing (or The Bullets as they are known in Australia) from Noosa District State High School. The teenagers had learned space age engineering technology and designed, made and raced their futuristic model F1 car against 31 teams from 20 other nations.
AC Racing finished the two day competition in London in 3rd place...just a few points behind their Team Australia colleagues in 2nd...and a few points ahead of their other Team Australia compatriots in 4th place!
AC Racing was able to win the international collaboration category by making use of the collaboration technology. It enabled them to design their car in real time with students from Manitoba, Canada.
When asked to race a car for the paparazzi Lewis Hamilton selected AC Racings car. Queensland’s technology starred on UK television that night.
The financial assistance provided by Manufacturing Skills Queensland and other industry and Government stakeholders assisted the Queensland F1inSchools Champions from Noosa District State High School attend and compete in the international finals in the UK in September.
